Stable Management

Stable management basically encompasses everything which is not covered by the actual act of riding. It includes all aspects of owning a horse or looking after one which includes grooming, mucking out, saddlery and general care of the horse, although this list is by no means exhaustive.

At The Quantock School of Riding, we offer stable management lessons which cover:-

  • Basic Anatomy & Physiology
  • Care of the Stabled Horse
  • Care of the Grass Kept Horse
  • Feeding
  • Saddlery
  • Feet
  • Health
  • Horse Movement
  • Safety

These lessons will provide you with a straightforward introduction to horsemanship. They are particularly helpful for the ‘not so horsy’ parent of pony-mad children or for those who have just loaned or bought a pony and need to further their knowledge on how to look them confidently. It’s also ideal for those who are ‘returning to horses’ – perhaps you used to ride and wish to get back into the sport but are a bit rusty? These lessons are also helpful for any student wishing to develop a career within the equine industry.
